Beneath the Big Sky
Beneath The Big Sky captures my visual journey through the expansive landscapes and towns of Western Montana, extending from the Rocky Mountains westward—a route I have traveled countless times on my return trips to the West Coast. On these drives, I am constantly struck by how our built environments sit so strangely between the sagebrush and the rugged mountains. Through exploring the relationships among architecture, typography, remnants of human activity, and the landscape, my photographs aim to evoke a feeling of solitude and vacancy in the overlooked spaces between notable landmarks throughout Montana.
